BALTIC — Chester Area speedster Jovi Wolf captured a pair of first-place finishes at Thursday’s Flyderdog track and field meet. 

Wolf won the 100-meter dash (:10.97), 200-meter dash (:23.20) and finished second in the 400-meter dash (:52.31). 

The Deubrook Area boys and girls track teams both won team championships at the meet. 

The Deubrook Area girls racked up 152.5 points finishing ahead of Chester Area (120.5) and Great Plains Lutheran (112.5). The Deubrook Area boys scored 159 points finishing ahead of Baltic (140) and Tri-Valley (135.5). 

For the Deubrook Area boys Treven Grimsrud won the 400-meter dash (:51.01) finished second in the 100-meter dash (:11.15) and 200 meter dash (:23.60) and ran a leg on Deubrook Area’s winning 1,600 meter relay team (3:37.48).

In addition to winning the 1,600 meter relay Deubrook Area also captured the 3,200 meter relay (8:47.22) and the medley relay (3:58.72). 

In girls action Deubrook Area won the 800-meter relay (1:50.68), the 1,600-meter relay (4:17.78) and 3,200-meter relay (10:38.46). Deubrook Area’s Akasha Gorecki also won the high jump (4-6). 

Baltic’s Daynica Witzel won the long jump (15-8) and triple jump (32-1). 

Chester Area’s Emery Larson won the 400-meter dash (1:05.17) and 800-meter run (2:25.56). 


Winner boys and girls sweep track titles at Todd County Invitational

MISSION — The Winner boys and girls track teams swept the team titles at Thursday’s Todd County Invitational in Mission. 

The Winner boys racked up 107 points, ahead of Stanley County (98.5) and Todd County (97). 

The Winner girls scored 109 points, finishing in front of Jones County (98) and Todd County (98). 

For the Winner boys Aiden Barfuss won the 100-meter dash (:11.21) ran the anchor leg on Winner’s winning 400-meter relay team (:46.21) and ran a leg on the winning sprint medley team (3:54.92). 

Winner’s Shawn Hammerbeck won titles in the shot put (45-1.5) and discus (138-6). 

Stanley County’s Spencer Sargent won two titles claiming the 800-meter run (2:16.16) and the 1,600 meter run (5:22.97). 

For the Winner girls, Jenaya Schrader won the shot put (31-2) and the discus (104-7). Keelie Kuil won the 200-meter dash (:27.01) and ran legs on the winning 800-meter relay (1:51.28) and 1,600 meter relay team (4:27.93). 

The Warriors also picked up titles from Daisy McIntyre in the 100-meter dash (:13.49), Karlee Brozik in the long jump (14-1.75) and the 400-meter relay (:54.75). 


Lennox athletes perform well at Thursday’s Lennox Invitational

LENNOX — The Lennox track team hosted Tea Area, Vermillion, West Central, Canton, Beresford and Madison at Thursday’s Lennox Invitational. 

No team points were kept. 

Lennox senior Layne Kuper won the 110-meter hurdles (:16.10) and 300-meter hurdles (:41.96) and ran a leg on Lennox’s winning 800-meter relay (1:35.17). 

Cody Peterson won the shot put (47-5.5) and the discus (135-6.5) while Cloy McVey won the 3,200 meter run (10:22.64). 

West Central’s Layton Johnson won the 100-meter dash (:11.27) and the 200-meter dash (:23.20). West Central’s Wyatt Nielsen won the 400 meter dash (:52.66) and was second in the 200 meter dash (:23.22).

Vermillion’s Henry Anderson won the 1,600-meter run (4:45.96) and the 800-meter run (2:06.95). 

The Lennox girls won the 3,200-meter relay (10:27.24) and got a win in the 800-meter run from Emily Plucker (2:25.20) and Kelsey Schmidt in the 3,200-meter run (12:22.45). 

West Central’s Molli Thornton won the triple jump (36-1) while teammate Emma Goehring captured the triple jump (17-7.5). Both of those marks lead all competitors in Class A girls this season. Thornton won the 100-meter dash (:12.98) while Goehring finished second (:13.07) in the same event. 

Tea Area’s Haidyn West won the 400-meter dash (1:02.15) with teammate Mya Neuhardt capturing the 200-meter dash (:27.60). Neuhardt ran a leg on Tea Area’s winning 400-meter relay (:52.60) with West running a leg on the Titans’ winning 1,600-meter relay (4:12.24).
