Brandon Valley track teams seize ESD Conference track titles

BRANDON —The Brandon Valley girls and boys teams each won team titles at Saturday’s Eastern South Dakota Conference track and field meet.

The Brandon Valley girls scored 188.5 points, ahead of Harrisburg (135.5) and Aberdeen Central (104). The Lynx boys scored 192 points, ahead of Harrisburg (128) and Aberdeen Central (120). 

The Brandon Valley girls were dominant on Saturday starting with winning the 3,200 meter relay (9:3211). Mia Wentzy won the 800-meter run (2:15.82) and the 1,600-meter run (5:15.66). Addison Scholten won the 3,200-meter run (11:49.32), Shelby Bergan the 300-meter hurdles (:46.95), Madison Pederson the 200-meter dash (:25.97) and the 1,600 meter relay won with a time of (4:06.44). Madison Pederson won the triple-jump (37-6.5) and Josey Wickersham the javelin (124-0). 

The Mitchell girls won the 400-meter relay (:50.61) and the 800-meter relay (1:46.34). 

Yankton’s Shea Ramsey won the 400-meter dash (:57.79) and Tierney Faulk the long jump (17-7.75).

Pierre’s Kali Rinstmeyer won the 100-meter dash (:12.50) while Reese Terwilliger won the shot put (42-0)

In boys action Brandon Valley’s Nate Anderson won the 100-meter dash (:10.84), Landon Dulaney the 200-meter dash (:21.83) and the long jump (22-5). Brandon Valley won the 800-meter relay (1:28.57).

Pierre’s Jason Maciejczak won the shot put (58-11.5) and the discus (178-8)

Yankton’s Cody Oswald won the 110-meter hurdles (14.74) while Yankton’s Dylan Payer won the 1,600 meter run (4:30.79).

Aberdeen Central’s Drew Salfrank won the 400-meter dash (:50.04) with teammate Aiden Heimann capturing the 300-meter hurdles (:39.97). Both of those athletes ran on the Golden Eagles winning 1,600 meter relay (3:26.39). 

Brookings athlete Samuel Conrad won the 800-meter run (2:00.27).

Harrisburg’s Jace Kramer won the triple-jump (43-5) and the Tigers won the sprint medley relay (3:41.56).
