Chester Area’s Emery Larson runs fast 1,600 meters in Beresford.
Chester Area's Emery Larson in red won the 1,600 meter run (5:04.57) and anchored the winning medley relay team (4:23.65) at Monday's Beresford/Alcester-Hudson meet.

BERESFORD — Chester Area’s Emery Larson and Sioux Valley’s Isabelle Bloker hooked up in a memorable 1,600 meter run on Monday. 

Larson, the 2022 Class B state cross country champion won the race (5:04.57) with Bloker, the 2022 Class A cross country champion finishing second (5:06.24). Larson also anchored Chester Area’s winning medley relay team (4:23.65). 

Monday was a strong day for the Sioux Valley girls with Adison Renkly winning the 100 meter hurdles (:16.80) the 300 meter hurdles (:52.58) and the triple jump (32-6.5).

Landry Wilson won the 100 meter dash (:12.90) and the 200 meter dash (:26.33). Hamlin’s Gracelyn Leiseth won the shot put (44-8.25) and the discus (147-3.5). 

In boys action Dell Rapids junior Lucas Flemmer won the 100 meter dash (:10.97) 200 meter dash (:22.43) and the 400 meter dash (:50.65) Monday nipping Chester Area’s Jovi Wolf in the 100 and 400 meter events. 

The Hamlin boys had a strong day winning the 400 meter relay (:44.92) the 800 meter relay (1:33.87) and finishing second in the 1,600 meter relay (3:31.89). The Charger boys also picked up wins in the throwing events from Cristhian Rodriguez in the shot put (44-4) and Kaden St. Pierre in the discus (138-1)

Garretson’s Preston Bohl won the 1,600 meter run (4:47.70) and 3,200 meter run (10:41.06). 

One of the top individual performances of the day came from Beresford junior Andrew Atwood who won the 800 meter run (1:57.59).
