VERMILLION — Many of South Dakota’s high school track and field athletes saw some of their first action Monday during the Class A and Class AA portion of the Dan Lennon Invitational. 

A pair of 2022 state shot put champions went head-to-head Monday with Sioux Falls Washington’s Kael Miedema throwing 60-3.25 to finish ahead of Platte-Geddes senior Lee Reiser who threw 55-11. 

On the track Dakota Valley’s Sophia Redler won the 800 meter run (2:28.72) and the 1,600 meter run (5:28.85). Sioux Falls Washington’s Nyariek Kur won the long jump and triple jump and was second in the 60 meter hurdles.
