Custer captures both Region 8A track and field titles

BELLE FOURCHE — Custer swept team titles at Thursday’s Region 8A track and field meet. 

The Custer girls recorded 192.5 points, finishing ahead of Belle Fourche (112) and Rapid City Christian (90). 

The Custer boys racked up 186 points, followed by Belle Fourche (157.5) and St. Thomas More (99).

On the girls side, Custer’s Jayda Bennett earned first-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.08) and 300-meter hurdles (:48.63). 

Custer’s Jordyn Larsen (400-meter dash, 1:01.01), Brit Wheeler (800-meter run, 2:23.83), Ciana Stiefel (pole vault, 11-2) also earned first-place finishes for the Wildcats. 

Lead-Deadwood’s Hallie Person was a double winner in the 1,600-meter run (5:40.41) and 3,200-meter run (12:33.43). 

St. Thomas More’s Brooke Montgomery won the 100-meter dash (:13.06) and placed second in the 200-meter dash (:27.02). 

Rapid City Christian’s Kayla Dilka won the shot put (38-3.5) and discus (109-7). 

Belle Fourche’s Mataya Ward won the triple jump (33-11) and took second in the long jump (15-3.5). 

On the boys side, Custer’s Mical Grace was a double winner in the 110-meter hurdles (:17.06) and 300-meter hurdles (:43.98). 

The Custer boys also won the 400-meter relay (:44.09), 1,600-meter relay (3:29.30) and sprint medley relay (3:39.38). 

Custer’s Coppoloa Colton won the shot put (43-8.75) and placed second in the discus (123-1).

Custer’s Kincade Lehman placed first in the long jump (20-0.75) and triple jump (42-8.25). 

Custer’s Danny Immormino (100-meter dash, :11.26), Carter Tennyson (high jump, 5-10) and Drew Lehman (1,600-meter run, 4:39.94) also earned first-place finishes.  

Belle Fourche’s Gunnar Geib won the discus (141-7) and placed second in the shot put (42-5.5). 

Belle Fourche’s distance runners Lane Krautschun (800-meter run, 2:01.32) and Sawyer Clarkson Sawyer Clarkson (3,200-meter run, 10:29.71) also captured first-place finishes.
