STURGIS — The Custer boys looked strong Tuesday with senior Blake Boyster winning the 400-meter dash (:49.45), anchoring Custer’s third place 400-meter relay team (:44.88) and anchoring the winning 1,600-meter relay team (3:37.93) at the Scooper Invitational. 

The Wildcats also won the 3,200-meter relay (8:26.36), the sprint medley relay (3:53.56) and the pole vault where junior Robbie Emery cleared 14-0. 

Rapid City Stevens senior Julian Scott won the 100-meter dash (:10.95) and anchored the winning 400-meter relay team for the Raiders (:43.67). 

The Sturgis boys picked up wins from Owen Koontz in the 800-meter run (2:03.07), Aidan Hedderman in the 110-meter hurdles (:14.86) and Nathanael Jones in the 300-meter hurdles (:42.49).

The Custer girls also had a strong first meet of the season claiming five first-place finishes. Junior Torri Virtue claimed a pair of titles in the shot put (34-8.5) and the discus (122-3)

Jordyn Larsen won the 100-meter dash (:12.30), Ramsey Karim won the 1,600-meter run (5:24.63) while Ciana Stiefel won the pole vault (11-9)

Sturgis sophomore Avery Marler won the 400-meter dash (1:02.35) and the long jump (16-1.5) and anchored the Scoopers’ winning 1,600-meter relay (4:14.32). 

Rapid City Stevens junior Claudia Werner finished fourth in the 100 meter dash (:12.88) and ran on the winning 400 meter relay (:50.77) and 800 meter relay (1:46.96).
