Dakota Valley girls, Tri-Valley boys look strong at Canton Relays

CANTON — Tri-Valley’s Dustin Sees had a banner day for the Mustangs at the Canton Relays on Monday. 

Sees won the long jump (21-2.5) and triple jump (42-7) and ran legs on Tri-Valley’s winning 400 meter relay (:44.93) and 800 meter relay (1:35.21). Other champions for the Mustangs were Braden Oyen in the 110 meter hurdles (:16.52) Eli McFarland in the 200 meter dash (:23.73). 

Elk Point-Jefferson’s Joe Cross won the 1,600 meter run (4:33.85) and the 3,200 meter run (9:45.21). 

For Dakota Valley, Trae Piel won the 100 meter dash (:11.60), Brayden Stivers the 400 meter dash (:54.79) and Avery Bradshaw the 800 meter run (2:01.98). 

The Dakota Valley girls looked strong Monday particularly in the mid-distance and distance events. The Panthers won the 3,200 meter relay (10:05.03). Alex McCullough won the 800 meter run (2:24.59) while Sophia Redler won the 3,200 meter run (12:08.65). 

Other champions for the Panthers were Sophie Tuttle in the 300 meter hurdles (:50.97); Jorja VanDenHul in the high jump (5-1) and Claire Munch in the triple jump (32-6). 

Canton’s Jayrn Warejcka won the 100 meter hurdles (:16.60)  and the long jump (16-5.5). 

Canton also picked up first place finishes from Jenna Vande Weerd in the discus (117-4) and Fallon Lundstrom in the javelin (102-4).
