Hamlin’s Gracelyn Leiseth announced her commitment to the University of Florida track and field team. The Hamlin senior announced her intentions to be a Gator on Friday.

Leiseth is a multiple-time state champion thrower for the Chargers. She won the Class A state championship in the shot put as a sophomore and junior. She won the shot put last season with a nation-best throw of 52-feet and 6.75 inches. Leiseth captured the Class A state title in the discus as a junior and placed second last season with a toss of 160-11, which ranked No. 12 in the country.

Leiseth is a two-time Gatorade South Dakota girls track and field athlete of the year. The award, which recognizes not only outstanding athletic excellence, but also high standards of academic achievement and exemplary character demonstrated on and off the field, distinguished Leiseth as South Dakota’s best high school girls track and field athlete.
