Hanson sweeps Cornbelt Conference track and field titles

ALEXANDRIA — Hanson won team titles at Thursday’s Cornbelt Conference track and field meet. 

The Hanson girls recorded 202 points, finishing ahead of Menno (108) and Freeman (103.5). The Hanson boys logged 191 points, followed by Menno (120) and Canistota (88). 

The final results are pending the pole vault, which will be held on Friday in Menno. 

The Hanson quartet of Weston Kayser, Ethan Cheeseman, Sutton Dewald and Hadley Wallace won the 400-meter relay in a meet record time of :44.79 seconds. The Beavers also won the 800-meter relay (1:34.23) and 3,200-meter relay (9:02.06). 

Hanson’s Keaton Weber won the long jump (19-9.5) and triple jump (39-2.75). 

Hanson’s Ethan Cheeseman was a double winner in the discus (154-5) and high jump (5-8). 

On the girls side, Menno’s Ashton Massey was a triple winner in the 100-meter hurdles (:15.79), 300-meter hurdles (:47.09), triple jump (35-4.5) and placed second in the 800-meter run (2:30.00). 

Irene-Wakonda’s Emma Marshall won the 400-meter dash (1:01.35) and long jump (16-1). 

Hanson’s Olivia Kayser was a double winner in the shot put (32-2) and discus (105-3). 

Viborg-Hurley’s Luke Campbell won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.47) and 300-meter hurdles (:42.36). 

Howard’s Caden Schwader won the 1,600-meter run (4:53.77) and placed second in the 3,200-meter run (11:42.25).
