Ipswich sweeps Region 6B track and field team titles

GETTYSBURG — Ipswich claimed both team titles at Thursday’s Region 6B track and field meet. 

The Ipswich boys piled up 198.5 points, finishing well ahead of second-place Herreid/Selby Area (84). The Ipswich girls posted 144 points, followed by Faulkton Area (128) and Potter County (108). 

On the boys side, Ipswich’s Trevor Heinz won in the 100-meter dash (:11.54), long jump (21-9) and placed second in the 200-meter dash (:24.41). 

Ian Beyers won the 800-meter run (2:09.67), Lucas Rowland won the shot put (44-11.75), Tyler Hettich captured the high jump (6-1) and Brody Davis claimed the pole vault (11-7) for the Tigers. 

Potter County’s Nicholas Schlachter was a double winner in the 1,600-meter run (4:49.12) and 3,200-meter run (10:36.62). 

Herreid/Selby Area’s Brenden Begeman won the triple jump (39-9.75) and discus (135-7.5). 

Lyman’s Rory McManus won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.84) and took second in the 300-meter hurdles (:44.12). 

HSA’s Brayden Goehring won the 300-meter hurdles (:44.02) and placed second in the long jump (20-1). 

The Faulkton Area boys won the 400-meter relay (:44.64), 800-meter relay (1:32.93) and 1,600-meter relay (3:40.18). 

On the girls side, Ipswich’s Marley Guthmiller won the pole vault (9-4) and placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (:17.16). Ipswich’s Ashley Ptacek won the triple jump (31-5.25). 

Highmore-Harrold’s Autumn Fallis won the 1,600-meter run (5:35.53) and 3,200-meter run (12:30.05). Fallis placed third in the 800-meter run (2:34.98). 

Sully Buttes’ Lydia Hill was a double winner in the shot put (37-8.25) and discus (115-5). 

Sully Buttes’ Stevie Wittler won 100-meter hurdles (:16.34) and placed second in the 300-meter hurdles (:50.59).
