Milbank earns team titles at Region 1A track and field meet

CLARK — Milbank won both team titles at Thursday’s Region 1A track and field meet. 

Milbank scored 224.5 points to earn the boys title, finishing well ahead of second-place Webster Area (130.5). Milbank won the girls championship with 201.5 points, followed by Redfield (96). 

On the boys side, Milbank’s Bennett Schwenn earned first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (:11.57), 200-meter dash (:23.48) and long jump (21-10). Schwenn also ran the anchor leg on the winning 1,600-meter relay team (3:26.42). 

Milbank’s Nick Batchelor was a double winner in the 800-meter run (1:58.41) and 1,600-meter run (4:28.22). 

Milbank’s Max Lightfield earned first-place finishes in the 110-meter hurdles (:17.04) and 300-meter hurdles (:42.90). 

Milbank’s James Batchelor captured a first-place finish in the 3,200-meter run (11:07.83). 

Ryker Trevett won the shot put (49-4) for Milbank.

On the girls side, Milbank’s Ashlynn Batchelor (800-meter run) and Amelia Pederson (discus) earned first-place finishes. Milbank also on the 400-meter relay, 800-meter relay 

Redfield’s Camryn Rohlfs recorded first-place finishes in the 100-meter dash (:13.28), 200-meter dash (:27.45), 400-meter dash (1:01.73) and long jump (15-5.5)

Dakota Hills’ Madison Zirbel was a double winner in the 1,600-meter run (5:41.93) and 3,200-meter run (12:30.31).
