The Sioux Falls Christian girls scored 101.5 points to edge Custer (83) and West Central (64) for the Class A girls track and field title. Mt. Vernon/Plankinton (48) and Dakota Valley (42.5) rounded out the top five teams. 

With no individual state titles on Saturday it was team depth that carried the Chargers to the team championship. Ellie Maddox finished 2nd in the 1,600-meter run (5:11.42) while teammate Anna Vyn was 2nd in the 400-meter dash (:58.26). Sidney Oostra added a 2nd place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (:47.65). 

The Chargers finished 3rd in both the 800-meter relay, 400-meter relay and 1,600 meter relay.  Emma Buys was 5th in the 100-meter dash (:13.03) while Ashlee VanDriesen added a 4th place finish in the long jump (16-5). The Chargers also grabbed a 2nd place finish in the sprint medley relay. 

Custer looked strong all day with Kellyn Kortemeyer wrapping up her career with a 2nd place finish in the shot put (45-2). Jordyn Larsen was 4th in the 100-meter dash and 3rd in the 200-meter dash (:26.45). Josey Wahlstrom added a 3rd place finish in the 400-meter dash (:59.95) while Ramsey Karim was third in the 1,600 meter run (5:13.91). The Wildcats ended their day with a 2nd place finish in the 1,600 meter relay. 

State titles Saturday went to Silja Gunderson of Dakota Valley in the 100-meter hurdles (:15.42). Parkers’s Lexi Even won the 100-meter dash (:12.58), 200-meter dash (:25.55). 

The West Central girls captured the 800-meter relay in a meet record time of (1:42.91) and 400-meter relay (:49.51). The Trojans scored 22 points in the long jump as Molli Thornton won (16-10, Emma Goehring finished 2nd and Lily Sidel grabbed a 5th place finish. 

Mt. Vernon/Plankinton’s Berkeley Engelland won the 400-meter dash (:56.20) while Mobridge-Pollock won the 1,600 meter relay (4:06.35). 

Hamlin’s Gracelyn Leiseth defended her shot put title, breaking her own state record in the process (52-6.75).

Leiseth was named the MVP of the field events while Engelland was the overall Class A girls MVP.
