Sioux Falls Christian track teams dominate relay action at Corn Palace Relays

MITCHELL — Sioux Falls Christian swept the boys and girls track titles at the state meet last year and the Chargers look to be contenders again after a terrific outing at Monday’s Corn Palace Relays at Joe Quintal Field. 

The Sioux Falls Christian boys won the 400 meter relay (:43.98) the 800 meter relay (1:29.09), 3,200 meter relay (8:05.35) and the medley relay (3:36.84). Isaac Davelaar anchored both the 3,200 meter relay and medley relay to the fastest times in Class A this season. 

Charger Josiah Adams won the 110 meter hurdles (:15.13) and anchored the 800 meter relay to the fastest time in South Dakota this spring. 

Mount Vernon/Plankinton senior Reed Rus won the high jump (5-9) and finished second in the 110 meter hurdles (:15.63). 

Just as dominant were the Sioux Falls Christian girls who won the 400 meter relay (:50.37) the 800 meter relay (1:47.74) the 3,200 meter relay (10:14.93) and the medley relay (4:16.56).

The Chargers also picked up wins from Ellie Maddox in the 1,600 meter run (5:13.15), Savaeh Sichmeller in the high jump (5-1) Rylee Punt in the pole vault (10-6) and Ashlee VanDriesen in the long jump (16-6.75). 

Mount Vernon/Plankinton’s Reagan Rus was a double winner capturing the 100 meter hurdles (:15.59) and the 300 meter hurdles (:46.93)
