Sioux Falls Lincoln teams coast to Rich Greeno track and field titles

TEA — The Sioux Falls Lincoln track and field teams swept team titles at Friday’s Rich Greeno Invitational. 

The Lincoln boys finished with 698.5 points, followed by Sioux Falls Jefferson (516.5) and Sioux Falls O’Gorman (507). The Patriot girls finished with 679.5 points, finishing ahead of Sioux Falls O’Gorman (515.5) and Sioux Falls Jefferson (485.). 

On the boys side, the champions from Sioux Falls Lincoln won the 1,600-meter relay (3:29.76), while Collin Blind won the pole vault (12-06).

Sioux Falls Roosevelt won seven events, including three relays. The Rough Riders won the 400-meter relay (:43.32), 800-meter relay (1:31.07), and sprint medley relay (3:55.42). Roosevelt’s Nelson Wright won the 100-meter dash (:11.00), while Matt Goehring won the 400-meter dash (:51.53). Vaughn Brown captured the 110-meter hurdles (:15.76) and Gabe Currier won the 300-meter hurdles (:41.03).

Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Griffin Wilde won three events, including the 200-meter dash (:22.49), long jump (21-05.50), and javelin (156-07).

Double winners included Jefferson’s Samuel Castle in the 800-meter run (1:57.36) and 1,600-meter run (4:31.24), Sioux Falls Washington’s Kael Miedema in the shot put (57-09.50) and discus (164-11), and Sioux Falls O’Gorman’s Manny Struck in the high jump (6-03) and triple jump (42-09.75).

On the girls side, Sioux Falls Lincoln won nine events, including the 400-meter relay (:49.43), 3,200-meter relay (10:44.10), and sprint medley relay (4:27.66). Dymond Nave won the 110-meter hurdles (:15.65), while Norah Christiansen won the shot put (41-07.50). Ali Bainbridge won the 800-meter run (2:18.17) and 1,600-meter run (5:03.74), while Ellen Merkley won the 200-meter dash (:25.84) and long jump (18-08.25).

Sioux Falls O’Gorman won four events, which included Libby Castelli in the 3,200-meter run (10:50.82), Audrey Meyer in the 300-meter hurdles (:48.11), Avery Wittry in the discus (136-10), and Rose Dvoracek in the pole vault (9-06).

Sioux Falls Washington’s Isabel Carda won the javelin event (112-04), followed by teammates Alexus Motley (102-01) and Claire Woods (95-05) in second and third place. The Warriors also won the 800-meter relay (1:46.21), along with Nyariek Kur winning the triple jump (37-08.25).

Sioux Falls Roosevelt and Sioux Falls Jefferson each won two events, with the Rough Riders claiming wins in the 100-meter dash (Isabel Peterson, :12.23) and 400-meter dash (Soraya Espino, :59.63), and the Cavaliers winning the 1,600-meter relay (4:08.36) and high jump (Nancy Peter, 5-03).
