BOSTON — It may be cold and snowy in South Dakota but a number of South Dakota athletes gave us a sneak peak at what will likely be a tremendous outdoor track season.

Rapid City Stevens senior and future Oregon Duck Simeon Birnbaum ran in two events in Boston competing in the 800-meter run and the mile run. Birnbaum finished fifth in the 800-meter run (1:51.03) on Saturday. Sunday morning he competed in the mile run where he finished in fourth place (4:06.13).

Belle Fourche senior Sawyer Clarkson and future Gonzaga Bulldog competed in the 3,200-meter run clocking a 9:23.09. That indoor time converts to 9:19 outdoors while equaling Clarkson’s personal best set at the 2022 state track meet.
