SIOUX FALLS — Dakota Relays records were falling all day on Friday. 

From the first race of the day, to a distance ace and a top-notch thrower, 13 meet records were set at the Dakota Relays at Howard Wood Field. 

Rapid City Stevens’ Simeon Birnbaum added another record to his budding distance career. The future University of Oregon runner won the boys special 800-meter run in a record 1-minute and :50.37 seconds. Birnbaum fended off Sioux City North’s Gabe Nash (1:52.51) for the win.

Hamlin’s Gracelyn Leiseth set the meet record in the girls shot put, finishing with a toss of 52-feet and 1/2 inches. The future University of Florida thrower finished well ahead of second-place finisher, West Lyon Inwood’s Jana TerWee (43-4.75). 

New Rockford, Iowa’s Kelsie Belquist set the tone in the first race of the day. Belquist ran her 100-meter hurdle race in :14.40 seconds to break a meet record. 

Other Dakota Relays meet records set on Friday: 

• Sioux Falls Christian’s Ellie Maddox, Halle Braun, Anna Vyn and Corinne Braun won the inaugural girls distance medley (12:28.44).

• Sioux Falls Lincoln’s Sam Ericsson, Isaac Jarovski, Colin Peck, and Chase Henderson won the inaugural girls distance medley (11:04.83). 

• Sioux Falls Jefferson’s Taryn Hyronimus, Chloe Hansen, Griffin Wilde, and Jensen Hyronimus won the co-ed 1,600-meter relay (3:39.27). 

• Bismarck Legacy’s Talen Farland, Dylan McGlothlin, Reese Snow, and Nathan Mathern won the 800-meter relay (1:26.05). 

• Sioux Falls Christian’s Jahaeim Reuer, Noah Schroder, Carter VanDonge and Josiah Adams won the 800-meter relay (1:28.10). 

• West Central’s Emma Goehring, Rayna Goehring, Sadie Berg and Molli Thornton won the 800-meter relay (1:43.86). 

• Colman-Egan’s Reese Luze, Elaina Rhode, Lanie Mousel, and Josie Mousel won the 800-meter relay (1:47.32). 

• Sioux Falls Christian’s Alex Oberloh, Connor Pruis, Davis Buck and Isaac Develaar won the 3,200-meter relay (7:56.90). 

• Sioux Falls Christian’s Corinne Braun, Natalie Smith, Ellie Maddox and Anna Vyn won the 3,200-meter relay (9:20.53). 

• Colman-Egan’s Presley Luze, Finley Luze, Brynlee Landis, and Reese Luze won the 3,200-meter relay (9:49.42). 

Fargo Davies’ Bariborve Deebom won the girls special 200-meter dash in :24.39 seconds, a personal record.
