Wall wins both Region 7B track and field championships

KADOKA — Wall won both team titles at Thursday’s Region 7B track and field meet.

The Eagle boys finished with 198.5 points, holding off Philip (180) for the team title. The Wall girls finished with 197 points, followed by Philip (145). 

On the boys side, Wall’s Rylan McDonnell was a double winner in the long jump (20-9) and triple jump (40-7.5). Wall’s Blair Blasius also earned a first-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (:47.20).  

The Eagles also won the 400-meter relay and 3,200-meter relay.

Lyman’s T.J. Moran was a double winner in the shot put (42-6) and discus (132-1).  

Kadoka Area’s Dawson Reckling, the top high jumper in the state, cleared 6-4 to earn the region title. 

On the girls side, Wall’s Paige Kjerstad (400-meter dash), Keaunna Poor Bear (800-meter run), April Schulz (shot put) and Ava Dinger (long jump) all capture first-place finishes. 

Wall also won the 400-meter relay, 800-meter relay, 1,600-meter relay and 3,200-meter relay. 

Lyman’s Ellie Erikson was a double winner in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.62) and 300-meter hurdles (:57.03). 

Lyman’s Skyler Volmer earned first-place finishes in the triple jump (33-0.5) and high jump (5-1), while she placed second in the 100-meter hurdles (:16.68).
